Transfer list: Every free agent Barcelona has been linked with for the summer

As the end of the season comes close, Barcelona have been working in full flow to get back to the Champions League, while the administration are in search of possible summer reinforcements.
Given their poor financial situation, a lot of Barcelona’s transfer targets are those whose contract expires in the summer of 2022.
This is also because the club’s priority numero uno is Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland. Signing him will take up most of their summer budget, and as such, other positions must be reinforced inventively.
While no free agent goalkeepers have wriggled their way into this list after Andre Onana, there are several defenders, midfielders, and forwards who could very well make the switch for zilch.
Defenders
The first name that has to be here is Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen. Recent reports from Fabrizio Romano suggest that Barcelona have sent an improved offer to his camp and are currently leading the race for his signature.
His teammate, Cesar Azpilicueta is in the mix as well. Barça have sent a two-year deal to him with the option to extend for another year, but the move is far from done at this point.
Antonio Rudiger is the third of the Chelsea trio player linked with Barça, although not as strongly. Borussia Monchengladbach’s Matthias Ginter was rumoured to be on the Catalans’ agenda as well, but there have been no developments on that front.

Finally, Noussair Mazraoui of Ajax is reportedly closing in a transfer, with Joan Laporta reportedly meeting Mino Raiola to discuss a summer move.
Midfielders
Barcelona have six midfielders covering three positions as it stands, with five of them making a very strong case to become starters at most top clubs. Despite that, the Blaugranas continue to be linked with players in this position.
Currently leading the race is AC Milan’s Franck Kessie. The Ivorian has been sent a €6.5 million-per-year contract offer by Barça and is seriously considering a switch despite so much competition.
Marcelo Brozovic is close to signing a contract extension at Inter Milan but was deemed as Sergio Busquets’ successor in the short-term through reports. Manchester United’s Paul Pogba continues to be pushed towards the La Liga by low-tier sources, as well.
Boubacar Kamara is among the last of the free agents associated with the Camp Nou, even though there have been little to no updates over a switch.
Forwards
Barcelona have a bunch of attackers at their club and are expected to sign a striker in the summer as the top priority. As such, and unsurprisingly, not a lot of forwards have been on their transfer list.
One name most recently linked with a switch are Paolo Dybala, but not by the usually-reliable sources.
Alexandre Lacazette was a subject of rumours in the past, but that seems over by now. The same goes for Juventus’ Federico Bernardeschi.
Adnan Januzaj becomes a free agent in the summer as well and was reportedly on Xavi’s agenda for the winter. There have been, however, no reports over a summer switch since.
