Barcelona eyeing €50 million-rated Juventus forward – report

Desperate times call for desperate measures. One can draw a similar analogy regarding Barcelona’s recent transfer strategy. Owing to their precarious financial situation, the Catalans have been on the constant lookout for top players in the final year of their contract. One such player the club maintain tabs on is Paulo Dybala.
The Argentine’s contract in Turin runs down in June. With every passing day, the possibility of renewal with Juventus seems more distant. The player is open to a move away from Italy, and SPORT report that Barcelona are one of the teams interested.
The Catalans have been linked with Dybala in the past too. Three years ago, the Argentine was speculated to be making a move to Barcelona until the talks finally broke down because of a similar profile to Lionel Messi.
Juventus offer him a lower salary and a contract containing a major chunk in variables. Needless to say, the Italians’ offer doe not convince his entourage because he has better options on the table.
From the Premier League, Tottenham are said to be in the driver’s seat to sign the forward. The English side have already made contact with the player and believe that he could be a game-changer. Another team heavily interested in his signing is Inter Milan.
Barça Universal’s thoughts
Though the player is open to a move to Barcelona, the Catalans’ priority is no longer the forward line. The signings of Ferran Torres, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Adama Traore has given them the depth they require.
With positions like the centre-back and full-backs being the need of the hour, a move for Dybala seems unlikely.
In 20 league starts this season, Dybala has scored seven goals and provided five assists for Juventus. He has also created nine big chances and averages 1.5 key passes per game.
