The WhoScored La Liga Team of the Month for March is officially out and Lionel Messi’s inclusion is, of course, no surprise. With four goals and four assists in just three league games in the month of March alone, Messi makes his way into the team with an astonishing rating of 9.44/10.

Fans are bewildered once again by the sheer class and consistency in Messi’s performances. After a slow start to the season, the Argentine is now firing on all cylinders, sitting atop the La Liga top scorers charts as well as joint top on the assists front, which reflects in his near-perfect average match rating.

However, Messi is not the only Barcelona star to feature in the March Team of the Month. Alongside the captain, midfielder Sergio Busquets and defenders Jordi Alba, Oscar Mingueza and Sergino Dest are all named in the lineup with solid ratings as well.

This is a testament to Ronald Koeman’s side and their evident change in mentality and quality since the turn of the new year. The Blaugrana have looked like a team reborn and with Koeman’s new tactical setup, all the players are expressing themselves a lot more freely, displaying their best qualities.

Busquets’ rock-solid performances have not gone unnoticed as he sits in midfield with a rating of 7.32. Due to Koeman’s new three at the back setup, Oscar Mingueza has shone through as the right-sided center back with a rating of 7.37. He also got his first goal for the club with a great header against Huesca.

The wingbacks Jordi Alba and Sergino Dest have been incredible in terms of attacking output, with the former notching a goal and an assist in March’s three league fixtures, while the latter also scored his first league goals with a brace against Real Sociedad. Hopefully, the Catalans can maintain the same momentum throughout April.
