Francisco Trincao’s time at Barcelona seems to be running out swiftly. The Portuguese winger is possibly the latest name on the chopping block as Barcelona carry out a thorough revamp of their financial and sporting structure under president Joan Laporta.

Though not entirely his fault, Trincao has failed to live up to expectations at Barcelona, failing to cement a place even as a backup, let alone in the starting XI. His move from Braga brought a lot of excitement, but the 21-year old has not shown much except for sporadic glimpses of his quality.

After a disappointing 2020-21 campaign where he made most of his appearances off the bench, Trincao may have to search for fresh pastures. Especially so after the arrivals of Memphis Depay and Sergio Aguero, which have added even more firepower to an already deep Barcelona attack.

Latest reports from SPORT now highlight that proceedings will only get trickier for the young winger after the new signings and if players like Ansu Fati return from injury soon. Even though the club reportedly still have confidence in the youngster, he seemingly has a lot of suitors in the market and given their precarious financial situation, they may have to let him go to recoup some money.

The offers that have come in for Trincao right now are primarily for loan deals, but a side from the Premier League have also approached him for a move. Barcelona have made it fully clear, however, that any permanent offer to buy will have to be north of 30 million euros.

With Ousmane Dembele’s continuity also possible, it will be harder and harder for the Portuguese winger to rack up game time. And being a young player with potential, Barcelona may have no choice but to sell him if the right offer arrives.
