Xavi is dominating Qatar league and proves he is ready for Barcelona

We all know Xavi Hernández will eventually become Barcelona’s coach. As of right now, no one knows when exactly will this happen but it’s already on the horizon. Of course, at the moment, Ronald Koeman is in charge while the Catalan legend is out in Qatar, honing his skills and gaining experience.

And it seems his development so far is going extremely well. At the moment of writing, Xavi’s Al Sadd team is top of the table in their domestic league, snatching up 13 out of the available 15 points and scoring 20 goals, averaging four per game.

Of course, it has to be said that it’s difficult to compare the quality of competition in Qatar to that in LaLiga but this is still wonderful news. Apart from topping the goal-scoring charts, Al Sadd also have the second-best defensive record, conceding just four goals, one more than Al-Khor who have also played one game fewer.

Another testament to Xavi’s tactical prowess lies in the big scorelines his teams have managed so far as well. Two times already Al Sadd have beaten someone 5-1 while also recording an incredible 7-1 victory once against the reigning champs, Al-Ahli.

All of that signals that he may be ready to take up a bigger challenge, potentially replacing Koeman in the not so distant future. Xavi has been Al Sadd’s coach since July 2019, winning the Emir of Qatar Cup, the Ooredoo Cup and the Qatari Sheikh Jassim Cup, proving his worth.

We also know Josep Maria Bartomeu had wanted him instead of Koeman in the first place but the ex-Barça refused the offer, saying he’s not ready to return just yet.

But with all of these achievements under his belt, one has to wonder whether his time is just around the corner. Of course, it will also depend on how well can Koeman perform this season.

Either way, Xavi is close to returning home and he seems more than ready for it.
