Despite Joan Laporta backing Ronald Koeman as the manager of Barcelona, the speculations surrounding his future refuse to go away.

Indeed, the Dutchman’s job is still hanging by the thread and the next three games could be decisive. If things do not go his and Barcelona’s way, various outlets are reporting that former midfielder Xavi Hernandez is the next in line to take over.

Currently managing Qatari club Al Sadd, the 41-year-old is the favourite to replace Koeman when he steps down. In fact, a report from Fichajes goes as far as saying that the Barca legend is already calling the shots over who the club needs to sign in the future.

And, the report states that the first signing that Xavi has requested for his side, once he takes over, is that of Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba.

The 28-year-old is in the final few months of his contract with the 20-time English champions and talks of a renewal have not progressed as per plans. This has thrown his future into doubt, with a number of top clubs like Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain keen, along with Barcelona.

While the midfielder has previously admitted of his desires to play for Real Madrid, the report adds that the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner would be excited at the prospect of a switch to Camp Nou as he would be the main man within the team.

Indeed, Xavi is stressing to add the 28-year-old to the squad once he takes over as he seeks to add more quality to the midfield department that already consists of Frenkie de Jong, Sergio Busquets, Pedri along with youngsters Gavi and Nico Gonzalez.

As things stand, there is no clear indication as to what Pogba will decide with regard to his future. But, Xavi has seemingly asked for his signing as the 41-year-old prepares to take over Barcelona in the near future and plots to restore the club back to their glory days.
