The wait has come to an end. Barcelona finally have a president, and according to TV3, and to the surprise of no one, it is Joan Laporta: The man, the myth, the legend!

After an exciting campaign that saw the birth and death of some really intriguing projects and plans, Laporta had to fight off Victor Font, whose project has been several years in the making, and Antoni Freixa, a man suspected of rigging pre-election twitter polls.

Laporta first came to prominence in 2003 when Barcelona were under a period of massive transition. He was elected as the president for his incredible campaign and ideas and proved to be the best president in the history of the club. Not only did he lead Barça to two Champions Leagues, but he also solved several administrative and financial problems within the club.

It is not 2003, now, however, and Laporta will have to recreate his first tenure again. In fact, he might have to better it. The Catalan giants have a plethora of problems right now as well, and Laporta will have to jump over several hurdles to get the club back on the right track.

Everyone can hope he has ideal solutions for the club which are several months in the making because Laporta has always been the front-runner for the elections.

Erling Haaland has been on the list for Laporta for a long time, according to rumours. He has addressed the questions relations to the Norwegian publicly, as well, dropping hints about moving for him soon enough. Additionally, he has name-checked the likes of Mino Raiola, Pini Zahavi, Jorge Mendes, and several others, which proves his influence in the world of football.
