Only a day after announcing the capture of Ferran Torres from Manchester City, Barcelona seem to have made another signing ahead of the January transfer window.

Indeed, according to SPORT, Barça have completed the capture of 17-year-old wonderkid Fabio Blanco from German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt, who will be joining the club’s B team.

The 17-year-old winger came through the youth ranks at Valencia but having run down his contract with Los Che in the summer, was on the radars of almost every top club in Europe. Barcelona, too, were keen on signing the young forward, along with arch-rivals Real Madrid. However, he opted to join Eintracht Frankfurt.

But things have not worked out as planned for the Almeria-born prodigy even though he has scored twice in eight games for the German club’s Under-19 outfit. As a result, he was believed to be keen on a return to Spain and Barcelona have pounced on the opportunity to sign him up.

As per the report, Blanco will be signing with the Blaugrana on a two-and-a-half-year deal and linking up with the B team, where he will play under Sergi Barjuan.

With the club’s precarious financial situation Barcelona are looking at making signings at the youth level at a lower cost and grooming them into first-team regulars. The move for Pedri has worked wonders while Emre Demir is expected to join the club in the near future.

Blanco becomes the latest in the line of such signings. Compared to the aforementioned Ferran Torres due to his style of play, speed and goalscoring ability, the 17-year-old has represented the Spanish national team across various age-group levels and has even played with Barcelona’s Gavi for the Under-18s.

The signing of Blanco will not cost Barça much in transfer fees, with the variables involved in the deal said to be more significant.
