Barcelona raised many eyebrows with their dealings during the January transfer window. They brought in a host of attacking stars including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ferran Torres.

However, one of the more low-key signings for the Catalan outfit was Fabio Blanco. Formerly of Valencia, the youth prodigy was brought in from Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal worth half a million euros.

Blanco made the return to Spain just six months after moving to Frankfurt last summer, on a free transfer from Valencia. His spell in the Bundesliga didn’t quite go as planned, with the young attacker often being forced to participate in the German youth leagues.

The 18-year-old was drafted into Barcelona’s B team as well. But he has already hit the ground running, featuring in seven matches in the third division.

Blanco has scored three goals so far, and his performances were decisive in the recent victories over UE Cornella and Betis Deportivo.

Along with Ferran Jutgla, the right-winger has helped Barcelona B emerge out of the relegation scrap, with many now expecting him to make the jump to the senior side in the near future.

In terms of his style of play, the 18-year-old has been compared to Ferran Torres due to his ability to provide productivity from the flanks, coupled with his versatility. The two even have an excellent relationship and are sponsored by the same agency – Leaderbrock.

Fabio Blanco has been met with great faith in the recent weeks, whose promising performances in the lower divisions could be a sign of bigger things to come for the player and in extension, FC Barcelona.
