FC Barcelona have officially announced the incorporation of the 17-year-old winger Fabio Blanco into the club’s B team. The young forward has been hailed as the ‘new Ferran Torres’ by many owing to the similarity in playing style.

The teenager has signed with Sergi Barjuan’s team, until June 2024 with a release clause set at €100 million.

In terms of profile, the Almeria born player operates on the right-wing and is particularly known for his one-on-one abilities. His good record in front of goal is a further boost in a Barcelona B team that has constantly lost players to the first team this season.

Blanco started his footballing journey at Valencia and had several top European clubs, including Barcelona and Real Madrid, interested in his signing. However, he chose to make the switch to Bundesliga, a move that did not bode well for him.

In over 600 minutes of football at Eintracht Frankfurt’s Under-19 team, he scored two goals while assisting once. His lack of prominence in Germany was a crucial factor in engineering a move back to Spain.

The signing of the young forward plays perfectly into Xavi’s philosophy of grooming and developing the youth of the team. With Pedri, Gavi and Nico being the prime examples of teenagers who made it big at Barcelona, Blanco could well be the next name on the list.
