Paris Saint-Germain find themselves in a precarious position with regard to the future of French superstar Kylian Mbappe.

The 23-year-old has entered the final six months of his contract with PSG and is able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with clubs from abroad over a free transfer in the summer.

While Les Parisiens remain hopeful of convincing the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner to stay put, they are aware that he could be on his way to Real Madrid in the summer. So, reluctantly, the Ligue 1 giants are starting to put plans in place to replace the ex-AS Monaco starlet.

According to Le10 Sport, PSG have their sights set on Erling Haaland as the ideal option to replace Mbappe. However, the finances involved for his signing and the intense competition could complicate matters for the French capital club.

This, as per the report, has now led to Mauricio Pochettino & co. turn their attention towards Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele. The 24-year-old is expected to be on his way out of Camp Nou after turning down the club’s latest contract proposal, as he sought a mega-contract worth €40 million per season.

With Barcelona unwilling to meet his outrageous demands, the writing seems to be on the wall for Dembele. The ex-Borussia Dortmund winger is free to hold talks with clubs over a Bosman move in the summer.

There have been reports of interest from Manchester United and Juventus, while a plethora of other clubs are monitoring the situation. PSG, too, are now in the hunt, having identified the former Rennes prospect as a viable replacement for star man Mbappe.

In fact, some reports have already indicated that the Parisian giants have already opened talks with Barcelona forward’s entourage. It now remains to be seen if he ends up returning to his homeland in the summer by signing for PSG, where he could reunite with former Barça teammate, Lionel Messi.
