According to Gerard Romero, Barcelona have received a shot in the arm as far as the pursuit of key midfield target Marcelo Brozovic is concerned.

The 30-year-old was understood to be close to a move to Al Nassr over the weekend, but despite there being an agreement between the Saudi giants and Inter Milan, Brozovic has not given his OK to the operation.

This is because the midfielder is buying Barcelona time to make a move to try and secure his signing.

As such, Romero is now reporting that Brozovic’s entourage has given the Catalans six days’ time to make a formal offer to Inter Milan as well as send a contract proposal to the player. If they are successful in doing so, Barça will very likely end up signing the Croatian international.

At the same time, the midfielder’s agent has also sought a written contract offer for the midfielder and a guarantee over his registration with La Liga.

As reported before, Barcelona currently do not have the funds or the salary margin to make a move for Brozovic. They need to make some sales in order to get things rolling in their pursuit of the Inter Milan captain.

And as a sign of his clear willingness to snub Al Nassr and move to Barça, Brozovic has been holding off on an agreement with the Saudi Arabian giants and has now given the Blaugrana time to try and make arrangements for the transfer.

The midfielder did not attend the meeting with representatives from the Saudi Arabian outfit today, but his entourage did. However, no definitive answer was given as the 30-year-old continues to stall to see if Barcelona do make a formal move.

Reports in Italy suggest that the relationship between Barcelona and Inter Milan are good which might be another advantage for Xavi Hernandez & co.

It certainly gives some hope to the La Liga champions about signing the key midfield target. However, they must speed things up or risk missing out on him as Brozovic cannot keep waiting forever.
