On Sunday night, it appeared as if Barcelona were set to miss out on the signing of key midfield target Marcelo Brozovic, after it emerged that Al Nassr and Inter Milan had reached a verbal agreement over a transfer.

The Saudi Arabian giants are throwing the cash for the 30-year-old’s signing, offering him a three-year contract worth €20 million per season while proposing a transfer fee of €23 million to Inter Milan.

It was suggested that today will be key to deciding Brozovic’s next move as emissaries from Al Nassr would travel to Italy to meet Inter and the player.

As such, Gianluigi Longari and several other Italian journalists are now reporting that the meeting between the two clubs has finished and they are close to finalising a total agreement for the 30-year-old ace.

The meeting with the Nerazzurri was attended by Al Nassr CEO Ahmed Alghabdi along with several other officials and it is understood to have gone well.

However, as things stand, Brozovic is yet to give his OK to the transfer to Al Nassr and has not made a decision yet, which leaves the door ajar for Barcelona.

The seasoned campaigner is understood to be aware of the interest from the La Liga champions and has not yet given his final word on his future.

This provides the Catalan giants with a glimmer of hope in their pursuit of Brozovic. The Blaugrana have been trying hard to convince Brozovic to join them and join new signing Ilkay Gundogan at the club.

The next few hours will be key to the transfer saga as the Croatian international is expected to announce his decision not very long from now. Barcelona will be hoping that they have enough time to convince him to snub Saudi Arabia and arrive in Spain.
