Barcelona duo show up for training despite Xavi giving the day off – report

Following a strenuous stretch of fixtures, Barcelona players have been finally handed a holiday this midweek, as they do not play until Sunday when they take on Villarreal.
The Barcelona players were initially slated to have Wednesday off. But following a convincing 3-0 victory over Sevilla, Xavi has likely extended the holiday until Thursday, as he promised prior to the game.
Despite the holiday, however, Robert Lewandowski and Sergi Roberto have both reported for training, as revealed by El Chiringuito.
Both players have been spotted at Ciutat Esportiva, going through training. In addition to them, Sergio Busquets has also been spotted inside the facility, continuing his recovery process.
The veteran midfielder had picked up a knock during the win over Sevilla, with reports claiming that he could be ruled out for two to three weeks.
But as Barcelona brace themselves for a tough stretch of fixtures, Busquets is keen on speeding up his recovery so that he could at least be a part of the squad that takes on Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League playoff round later this month.
As for Lewandowski, the Pole was unable to find the back of the net during the win over Sevilla. But after missing quite a few matches in January, the veteran is determined to get back into the groove and extend his scoring tally. Lewandowski is currently the top-scorer in La Liga with 14 goals.
Meanwhile, Roberto is among the players likely to sign a renewal with Barça during the second half of the campaign. Although reports suggest he is yet to respond to the club’s offer, many expect him to continue at Camp Nou next season.
