In just a little over three years at FC Barcelona, Pedri has grown into one of the most important players for the club.

The 2021 Golden Boy Award winner has become an integral part of Xavi Hernandez’s setup, with the manager himself admitting that the team is different with and without the 20-year-old midfield prodigy.

However, in his young career, Pedri has garnered a reputation for being prone to injuries, having spent a considerable time out on the treatment tables.

Barcelona growing concerned

As per journalist Javi Miguel, Barcelona are starting to grow very concerned about Pedri’s recurring injury problems in the past couple of seasons.

After featuring in more than 70 matches for club and country during his first season at Barça, the midfielder has had injury setbacks one after the other.

During the 2021/22 campaign, the 20-year-old was sidelined for more than three months due to a torn hamstring.

Last season, he was once again out for close to three months due to a muscle injury, and the same issue has put him out of action at the onset of the new campaign too.

In total, Pedri has had six muscle injuries due to which he has gone on to miss around 60 matches.

And, it is only natural for Barcelona to have concerns about the midfield sensation, especially considering how important he is to the team.

As such, the report adds that Barcelona have made it a point to get to the bottom of Pedri’s injury issues and deal with them once and for all.

To begin with, manager Xavi himself has met with the young midfielder to find out more about his feelings and the reasons why he has not been able to get out of this spiral of injuries.

The club doctors have also taken measures, drawing up a special work and prevention plan, along with a much stricter diet for the 20-year-old.

The player himself has also realised that he has to find a way to put a stop to this ordeal to have a long and successful career.

Given that these injuries have occurred without a blow or bruise being involved, Barcelona are also looking at other multidisciplinary factors in the player’s life that could be impacting his condition.

The La Liga champions want to get to the heart of the matter, in order to have all the possible causes under control. The priority is to put an end once and for all to this avalanche of muscular injuries.
