Barcelona’s €100 million-rated superstar could return from injury vs Athletic Club next month

FC Barcelona have found themselves tussling with the fickle hand of fate over the course of the campaign, as a series of unfortunate injuries have cast a shadow over the team’s aspirations.
While Barça have done well to fortify their depth, they still anxiously await the return of their missing players as among the absentees is start midfielder, Pedri.
In order to ensure any further setbacks do not obstruct Pedri’s season, the club is looking to take maximum caution with the Canary Islander, who has been subject to countless injuries over the past couple of campaigns.
Barcelona are treading lightly
Indeed, according to AS, the club is very clear that they will not take any risks with Pedri’s return and recovery.
Pedri’s injuries have become a recurring theme due to his regular play time and the backbreaking 20/21 season he was a part of, which included a taxing season with Barcelona, followed by the Euros and Olympics with the Spanish National Team.
Now, aiming to reduce the risk of a relapse, the Catalan giants will provide the player ample recovery time before inviting him back to the hot seat.
Pedri, whose market value stands at €100 million, has established himself as a crucial cog in Xavi’s team, with a nomination for the Kopa Trophy, which he has already won, as proof of his talents.
When will Pedri return?
The report provides an update on Pedri’s potential comeback as well, claiming the Golden Boy winner could reappear against Athletic Club on October 22nd.
Barcelona play a total of seven games before locking horns against Athletic Club at the Olímpic Lluís Companys.
In the meanwhile, Barça are expected to rely upon their current midfield options for the interior position, with the likes of Gavi, Ilkay Gundogan, Frenkie de Jong, and Fermin Lopez available at the coach’s disposal.
New signing Joao Felix will also be an option for the manager as he awaits Pedri’s return from injury.
