Yesterday evening wasn’t a great night for Barcelona. Following their 2-0 defeat at the hands of Sevilla away from home, the Catalans now have a mountain to climb back at the Camp Nou.

Nothing is lost just yet, that’s for sure, but this situation could’ve been avoided altogether. Barcelona missed a clear-cut chance when Antoine Griezmann deployed a perfect pass to send Lionel Messi eye-to-eye with the Andalusians’ keeper but an even more controversial moment happened later on in the game.

This morning, FC Barcelona’s official Twitter account posted an interesting video that offers an alternative angle to the incident, suggesting this should indeed have been a penalty given to the Catalans.

Jordi Alba was bursting into the box as he usually does but was promptly taken down by Suso in a challenge that seemed to be inside the penalty area. However, the referee on the night, Antonio Mateu Lahoz, decided to award a free-kick just outside the box instead.
