Latest reports from COPE have highlighted that Pedri Gonzalez will end up costing Barcelona 30 million euros in total transfer fees. The midfielder signed from Las Palmas back in 2020 for a reported fee of just five million, but this figure can go up plenty in coming months.

Pedri’s transfer reportedly has a ton of variables involved, which can drive up his price by a further 25 million euros or so. While the transfer cost is not too high considering the midfielder’s immense quality, it shows once again how Barcelona have paid a lot more for players than thought over the past few years.

The latest of these variable payments will come once Pedri makes his debut with the Spanish national team. Luis Enrique has already included the teenager in the squad for Spain’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Barcelona will thus have to pay Las Palmas one million euros when Pedri earns his first cap.

The club will have to pay a further 9 million once the Canarian reaches 50 official games for the club. And when he reaches 100 games, Barcelona will have to shell out another 14 million euros, which then takes the price to over 30 million euros.

This is not new information however. Back in early February, Las Palmas president Miguel Angel Ramirez had already revealed that Pedri’s transfer cost was not just the reported five million euros. He also said that Las Palmas had already gotten 10 million from Barcelona back then and the total sum could reach 35 million euros.

Considering how important Pedri has become to the Barcelona first team, there is no doubt he will reach the 100-game-mark for the club very soon. And even if the Catalans were to pay all the variables, the 18-year-old is worth that and much more.
