Report: Aguero’s priority is to play with Lionel Messi

Manchester City and Argentina striker Sergio Aguero has officially confirmed that he will be leaving the Mancunians after the end of this season when his contract expires. After 10 glorious years with the club, he has finally announced that he will be seeking a new challenge from next season.

The 32-year-old has broken the internet with his announcement, with fans and the media alike, speculating about his next destination. Aguero has been linked with a move to Barcelona many times as the Catalan giants have been on the lookout for a pure striker to solve their woes.

Barcelona have reportedly been in contact with Aguero to potentially bring him to the Camp Nou. Journalist Sergio Gonzalez states that his decision to part ways with Manchester City should not come as much of a surprise. His priority has always been to play together with Lionel Messi at club level too.

Messi and Aguero are really close friends and have been so for many years, ever since they represented Argentina at the junior level. Gonzalez however, states that Aguero’s departure was imminent even before Joan Laporta’s official election as Barcelona president. He says that there will be no shortage of offers for ‘Kun’ come the summer.

The Aguero and Barcelona flirtations are not new and have arisen many-a-time over the past few seasons. This time, however, there is a genuine chance of him joining Lionel Messi in Spain.

With Messi’s continuity itself being in major doubt, it is tough to make any predictions currently. If he were to stay, Aguero’s signing could provide further incentive. However, if he were to leave, Barcelona’s plans regarding Aguero could change as well.

The Premier League legend will be appearing in headlines left, right and centre in the coming months. It will be interesting to see if he ends up in Catalonia to reunite with his good friend Leo Messi.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has already confirmed that Barcelona is one of the options for Kun Aguero but, the legendary marksman will take time until the end of the season to decide. Despite the Argentine pair’s rather advanced age, a lethal partnership could be in the making.
