Barcelona and Real Madrid have been in the tussle for Brazilian wonderkid Endrick for a fairly long time. The El Clasico rivals were the first ones to start tabs on the Palmeiras forward, and have been scouting him consistently over a possible summer move.
Neither of the two clubs have, however, made an official move for Endrick, yet. That onus has fallen on none other than Paris Saint-Germain, who have officially kickstarted talks with Palmeiras, as has been confirmed by the player’s father.
And now, according to a report published by ESPN, PSG are weighing up a fresh bid for Endrick after their opening offer of €45 million was rejected by the Brazilian club.
Palmeiras are more than aware of the huge trail of clubs following Endrick – also including Chelsea -, and are holding out for more than €60 million, which is his reported release clause.
Xavi has confirmed that Barcelona have already spoken to the player and his father about a potential move. The Catalan coach did not hold back his desire to get the Brazilian youngster onboard.
“We have been talking to his father and also directly with the player. I explained the project we have at Barcelona. We want talent and he is a talent, capable of making a difference.”
“He is the type of player we need. He already knows the project we have at Barcelona and we are talking. I hope he joins Barça,” Xavi added.
Even though there are several parties pursuing Endrick’s signature, the teenager can only move to Europe in 2024, when he turns 18. His contract with Palmeiras runs out in 2025, though.
