Pablo Longoria, the president of Ligue 1 outfit Olympique de Marseille, has confirmed that the club are set to sign Barcelona winger Konrad de la Fuente.

Konrad is a product of the La Masia youth academy. The 19-year-old has been on the club’s books since 2014 and has been a regular for Barcelona’s B team over the past year or so.

The young winger even made his first-team debut for the Catalans in November last year, featuring as a substitute in the UEFA Champions League game against Dynamo Kyiv and racked up a couple more appearances as well.

However, Konrad, who has been capped one time by the United States Men’s National Team, is now set to bid adieu to Barcelona, as a transfer to French outfit Marseille looms. Indeed, the Ligue 1 club president Pablo Longoria, as quoted by SPORT, has confirmed that the deal is imminent.

“Konrad? Everything has been possible thanks to a good personal relationship, coordination with Barcelona and the attractive power of the Olympique Marseille,” Longoria said.

While the transfer is yet to be made official, final details are being ironed out between the two clubs. Marseille are keen on a loan deal with an option to buy. Barcelona, meanwhile, are pushing for an obligation to make the transfer permanent for a €5 million fee. The Catalan giants also want a €10 million buyback option inserted.

Going by Longoria’s words, though, it looks like the deal is as good as done after being in the works for weeks. So, it only seems a matter of time before an official announcement is made.
