Manchester United’s start to the new season has been far from ideal. The Red Devils finished bottom of the group in the UEFA Champions League behind Bayern Munich, Galatasaray and København while concurrently languishing in sixth place in the Premier League.

Their problems, however, are not limited to their performances on the field. The pressure on Erik ten Hag continues to mount day after day while the administration also continue finding ways to deal with Jadon Sancho’s situation.

The Barça option

Reports earlier this week highlighted Barcelona as one of the potential destinations for Sancho amidst his situational crisis in Manchester.

A swap deal involving Raphinha and the English star was suggested, albeit with no further progress.

Now, according to reports from SPORT, Manchester United are desperate to get the youngster off their books as early as the upcoming winter transfer market. However, Barcelona are not a contender for his signing for one major reason – his high wages.

As relayed by the outlet, Sancho’s current salary stands at a whopping €400,000 per week, a number that the Catalans cannot even dream of matching in their current financial crisis.

Needless to say, the same factor has detracted other suitors including RB Leipzig.

Raphinha: An untouchable star

As relayed earlier this week, Barcelona are satisfied with Raphinha’s performance in recent times and see him to be an untouchable member of the current team.

The Brazilian may be enduring a lean patch, but the fact remains that he was a vital member of the La Liga-winning team last season.

Raphinha’s future may be decided in the summer and a sale would only be sanctioned if a large offer arrives. As it stands, however, a move away from Catalonia this winter is next to impossible.
