La Liga club ready to sell key defender to Barcelona for €13 million

Celta Vigo would be willing to let Barcelona transfer target Javi Galan leave the club this summer if they receive an offer of around €13 million reports SPORT.
The 27-year-old joined the Galicians only last summer, arriving from SD Huesca in a deal worth €2 million. He quickly became a key part of Eduardo Coudet’s side and established himself as one of the better-performing left-backs in the Spanish top flight.
In 41 appearances for Celta, Galan has registered four assists, one of which has come in the ongoing campaign. His performances piqued the interest of Barcelona, who were heavily linked with a move for the Spaniard earlier in the transfer window.
However, the Catalans shifted their attention to Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso in recent weeks but have encountered complications in their pursuit of the 31-year-old. It has forced them to look for alternatives, taking the club back to Galan again.
The 27-year-old is contracted with Celta Vigo until the summer of 2026 and is protected by a release clause worth €18 million. While they would be reluctant to let go of a player who is a key part of the setup, the report states that an offer of €13 million could change their stance.
It is further claimed that the La Liga side would be open to receiving the fee in instalments, a percentage of which would go to Huesca as part of their previous agreement. However, there seems to be a belief within the Celta Vigo camp that Galan might not leave at all.
As far as Barcelona are concerned, Alonso remains the priority target. But negotiations with Chelsea are proving to be tricky as they are trying to include the left-back as part of their offer for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with the Catalans uninterested in such an operation.
With a week left for the transfer window to slam shut, there could be a flurry of activity at Camp Nou in the coming days. Whether it is Galan or Alonso who arrive to strengthen the left-back slot remains to be seen.
