Ronald Koeman spoke to the press after his side’s 2-1 defeat against arch-rivals Real Madrid at home. The men in white dominated the game in terms of attacking threats. Though Barcelona did have their bright spots, they were far from convincing.

On the result: “We didn’t deserve to lose. I don’t understand the result.”

On Real Madrid’s display: “Madrid sat back and counter-attacked.”

On Dest’s miss: “We went from missing the 1-0 to conceding the 0-1. Dest should have scored.”

On the implications of the defeat: “La Liga is quite long. On Wednesday, we have another important match that we have to prepare for.”

On the team’s performance: “We played well. I think we showed we are not inferior to Real Madrid.”

On Ansu Fati’s injury: “Ansu felt some discomfort. It doesn’t look serious. He should be fine to play on Wednesday.”

On Luuk de Jong: “We have to support Luuk de Jong. He’s a member of the squad.”

On the poor record in big games: “Slowly but surely, we’re improving. We’re coming close to winning a big game.”
