Ronald Koeman has spoken in the press-conference ahead of Barça’s clash against Celta Vigo on Thursday. The Dutch manager explained what he expects from the game, and answered several questions about his players.
“We expect a difficult game from our opponent. Barça have a difficult history at the Balaídos. Celta possesses a great team so we must give our best in order to win the game.”Ronald Koeman
Koeman also confirmed that he will play with the same line-up as he did against Villarreal:
“There is no need to make any rotations for tomorrow’s game. This team should not play differently away from home. We should not play differently no matter where we are. We have a great team and we will see how the squad performs outside of the Camp Nou.”Ronald Koeman
The Dutch manager added that the Catalan club is actively looking for a striker, and that there are many options on the table:
“We are looking for a number 9, and there are many options. I will not mention the names of the players we are interested in.”Ronald Koeman
Lastly, Koeman gave his opinion on Barça’s latest signing Sergino Dest:
“Dest is a young player who can help us a lot. He has participated in the Champions League, and he will be very useful.”Ronald Koeman
Ten Barça attackers are nominated for the Ballon d’Or Dream Team
The renowned magazine France Football has brought the nominees for the attacking positions for the Ballon d’Or Dream Team lineup to light. The line-up is structured as a 3-4-3, with left-wing, centre-forward, and right-wing positions in the attack. Of the 30 nominees for the offensive positions, ten players have had the opportunity to defend the Blaugranas colours.
List of the ten Barça attackers that are nominated for the Ballon d’Or Dream Team
- Rivaldo. Left-wing. 1989-2015.
- Thierry Henry. Left-wing. 1994-2014.
- Histro Stoichkov. Left-wing. 1982-2003.
- Ronaldinho. Left-wing. 1998-2015.
- Johan Cruyff. Centre-forward. 1964-1984.
- Romário. Centre-forward. 1985-2009.
- Ronaldo Nazario. 1993-2011.
- Samuel Eto’o. Right-wing. 1997-2019.
- Lionel Messi. Right-wing. 2003-2020.
- Luis Figo. Right-wing. 1990-2009.
Without a doubt, each of the players on the list has played an important role with different stories in the history of FC Barcelona, and all the nominees deserve a place in the team. However, it will be nearly impossible to have a front-three of Barça’s players due to the great competition in each position.
Even though France Football is recognizing the greatness of the aforementioned legends, the magazine has lost huge credibility for Culés, with players like Luis Suárez, Dani Alves, Carles Puyol, and Gerard Piqué failing to receive a nomination for the ‘Dream Team’.
