Barcelona have had quite the altercation with Atletico Madrid this season over the loan deal of Antoine Griezmann.
With Los Colchoneros refusing to play the Frenchman in over 45 minutes in most games, there are fears the attacker may have to return to Camp Nou, without Atleti having to meet the obligatory €40 million buyout clause.
However, it appears Griezmann will not find any shortage of suitors next summer, with Juventus among the clubs keeping close tabs on his situation.
This has been reported by MARCA, who suggest the Italian giants have identified a series of targets in the transfer market. They are tracking the development of these players, most of who offer a lot of experience to the table and can help young players grow.
Griezmann fits the bill perfectly, with the Frenchman having featured in a combined total of over 600 matches during his time at Atletico Madrid, Real Sociedad and Barcelona. He has also won 108 caps for the French national team, notably leading them to a World Cup triumph in 2018.
Griezmann’s vast experience, coupled with his winning mentality, could go a long way in helping Juventus restore its lost glory.
As for Barcelona, the Frenchman’s departure could serve as a major sigh of relief as the attacker’s wage packet would have once again ruined the club’s financial structure ahead of the start of next season.
However, Griezmann’s future remains unclear at the moment. Even though Atletico Madrid have refused to utilise him often this season, the recent knock of Joao Felix may compel Diego Simeone to utilise the Frenchman more often.
There have also been talks of Barcelona potentially agreeing fresh terms for the loan contract of Griezmann, which could see the Catalans lower their asking price for the player. Hence, it will be interesting to see how things transpire over the coming months.
