Barcelona secured a resounding 5-0 win over AD Ceuta in the Copa del Rey Round of 16 last night to set up a date against Real Sociedad in the quarter-finals.

Before that game, however, the Blaugrana will have to take on Getafe in La Liga this weekend. The Catalans will be playing their first home game of 2023 when they host the Azulones on Sunday evening and the plan will be to stretch their lead atop the La Liga standings.

Heading into the game, Javi Miguel of AS has confirmed a fitness boost for Barcelona as key duo Frenkie de Jong and Ronald Araujo are expected to be fit and ready for the Getafe encounter after missing the midweek cup tie.

Araujo and de Jong both did not travel to Ceuta on Thursday as they were dealing with minor discomforts. However, the said issues are said to be no longer a concern as both Barcelona stars have recovered and will be available at the manager’s disposal.

After a three-month-long injury break, Araujo has returned to action this year and has been in top form since making a comeback. The 23-year-old put in top-quality displays against Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, in particular.

Given that he had started quite a few matches on the bounce, Xavi had confirmed ahead of the Ceuta clash that the Uruguayan would be rested. And the small break has allowed Araujo to recover from the minor discomfort he had.

As for Frenkie de Jong, the Netherlands international has become an undroppable member of the team in recent weeks as well and his availability for the weekend encounter will be a boost for Xavi.

At this point, Barcelona will only be without Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres when Getafe come visiting, with the attacking duo serving their suspension.
