Despite their exit from Copa del Rey, Barcelona still have La Liga to play for as we enter the phase of the campaign. They are currently leading the table by a whopping 12 points and following Real Madrid’s defeat to Villarreal, that gap could be extended to 15 points on Monday.

Given the way they have performed in the league this season, they may even clinch the title in a grand fashion, breaking a host of records.

One of the historical numbers that Barcelona can break is the highest number of points in the history of the five major leagues, which is currently held by Juventus with 102 points. Barcelona, currently on 71 points, have a chance to reach 104 points if they win each of their remaining 11 matches.

In addition, Barcelona have one of the strongest defences in the history of the five major leagues, having conceded only nine goals so far.

The current record is held by Chelsea with 15 goals, and Barcelona have a chance to break this record as well and come out the most defensively astute team in Europe’s top five leagues.

Another historical record that Barcelona can break is the highest number of clean sheets in one season in the history of the five major leagues.

The current record is held by Deportivo La Coruna with 26 clean sheets, but Barcelona can potentially reach 31 clean sheets if they continue to perform well defensively. The Catalans currently have 20 clean sheets to their name, in just 27 matches – a success rate of 74%.

Finally, Barcelona have a chance to break the record for the highest number of wins in one season in the history of the five major leagues. The current record is held by Juventus with 33 wins, but Barcelona can reach 34 wins if they maintain their current momentum, though it may require a perfect streak.
