Watford winger Gerard Deulofeu heavily criticised the club’s new coach Ronald Koeman, the manager during the player’s time at Everton. Deulofeu is a former academy player and featured in 12 games for Barcelona’s first team during his time at the Catalan club.
“I can tell you about Koeman from my personal experience. Koeman was my coach for 6 months. I was never happy at that time. He gave me absolutely nothing as a coach. I asked to leave and went to Milan.”, said the Spanish forward.
Deulofeu certainly did not leave Barcelona on good terms, as can be understood from his words: “The truth is, what’s happening with Barça gives me no pain. The club hasn’t had any patience for youngsters in ages. There are some who go through, some have left, but they have no patience at all. They are very behind.”
