On ESPN Argentina’s ESPNF90 program, former Barcelona and Argentina icon Juan Roman Riquelme took the time out to analyse Messi’s move to PSG, his future and provide his thoughts on why his compatriot is the best.

Riquelme initially said that with Lionel Messi, Paris Saint-Germain now have the best chance they have ever had to win the coveted Champions League trophy, a title that has always eluded them, despite coming close on a few occasions.

However, Riquelme also believes that Messi’s story at Barcelona is not over yet, as the Argentine can return to the club of his childhood even after he attains the success he pursues at PSG.

“Messi will win the Champions League with PSG and he will return to Barcelona to retire. If PSG doesn’t win the Champions League now with Messi, they don’t win it anymore,” proclaimed the former Barcelona number 10.

Riquelme then proceeded to explain why Messi is as good as he is, and why he thinks there is no one better, saying that: “Messi is the best because he simply likes to play football.”

Messi’s exit was rued by fans all over the world, ad truth be told, many are still reeling from the realisation that he is no longer a Barcelona player.

The club’s economic strain proved far too great to bear, as Messi’s departure was followed by the exits of Antoine Griezmann, Emerson Royal, Miralem Pjanic, and Rey Manaj, in what was a transfer window filled with twists and turns.
