Former B-team coach says Barcelona is capable of fighting for the Champions League

While talking to Cadena SER’s ‘Què T’hi Jugues‘ program, former Barcelona B coach Garcia Pimienta opened up on the club’s upcoming challenges in Spain and Europe. He spoke about his tactical preferences and the Catalans’ aspirations for the season.
Pimienta was a highly-adored figure within Barcelona for two decades, before a puzzling expulsion from the club. However, he still remains a Blaugrana through and through, having spent so much time with the youth at La Masia.
He spent many years coaching the youth at the Barcelona academy to hone their talents to fit the 4-3-3 system, which is what made the club so successful in their glory years. All the youngsters are ingrained with the knowledge of how to best utilise their talents to best suit the 4-3-3.
This is exactly why Pimienta believes the club should never stray from it. He also seemed optimistic about Barcelona’s hopes in Europe and wants them to stick to their faith in the youth.
There has been plenty of buzz surrounding a potential tactical change from Ronald Koeman in the crucial match against Bayern Munich, which Pimi also addressed.
“For me 4-3-3 is non-negotiable. I see Barça capable to fight for the Champions League. We have to believe in young people. If we give them confidence they are very good,” Pimienta said.
Pimienta knows that the Catalans face a massive uphill battle against the 2019-20 Champions League winners Bayern, but he says that Barcelona cannot hold on to their past demons.
“We must give the message that we are the best,” he concluded.
