Earlier today, Ferran Torres was officially presented as an FC Barcelona player. The forward was met with thunderous applause in front of a roaring Camp Nou. The 21-year old also took time to speak to the press, his first time as a member of the Blaugrana

Commenting on the excitement of his move, Torres said, “I’m very happy to be here. When Xavi contacted me, I wanted to come to Barça even more.” He added, “It is a dream come true to be at Barça.”

On the impetus of his transfer, Torres commented, “If I remember correctly, in the national team I played a good game against Italy and Mateu Alemany contacted my agent.”

Torres left a Manchester City side that are one of the best in the world; on that topic, he said, “I went to City to come back one day to a big club in Spain and as soon as Barça called me I didn’t think twice. It’s a great challenge.”

Furthermore, “City are one of the best. I’m ambitious and it’s a challenge to get Barça back to where it deserves to be. We’re very young and have a lot of room to learn. I’m looking forward to playing with my teammates.”

Barcelona are coming off a thrilling 1-0 victory against Mallorca, on which Torres stated, “Yesterday’s victory was very important and the three points were what the team needed. We are impatiently awaiting the next game.”

Culés are looking forward to his debut; according to the 21-year old, “I should be back in no more than two weeks.”

Torres’ versatility across the front line is one of his standout attributes. On his playstyle, he said, “My best position is on the right but I can play wherever the coach wants.”

There have been concerns about his registration due to La Liga’s Financial Fair play regulations, however, Torres iterated, “I am calm about the registration because I know that the club is working on it and I am convinced that it will be done without problems.”
