Even though the summer transfer window is still some way away, things seem to be picking up at Barcelona. On Monday, it was reported that the Blaugrana had reached an agreement with AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie over a Bosman move in the summer.
And, if a report from Fichajes is to be believed, it seems like the Catalan giants have made major progress in their pursuit of Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen.
The Danish international has entered the final four months of his contract with the reigning European and World champions and has shown no desire to pen an extension as he has had to share game-time on the field despite impressing at every opportunity that has come his way.
The 25-year-old is keen on moving to a club where he can establish himself as a certain starter and play regularly with proper continuity. And there is no shortage of suitors for the defender as he has been attracting serious interest from various clubs.
Barcelona have been hot on his trails for quite some time now, while the likes Bayern Munich, Juventus, AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund have also sounded him out over a possible summer transfer.
However, the report states that, as things stand, all signs are pointing towards Christensen moving to Barça at the end of the season. It also provides detailed information about the contract offer that the Blaugrana have presented to the Danish international.
As per the report, the Catalans have offered the Chelsea star a four-year contract that will run until the summer of 2026. According to the terms of the deal, he would stand to make a handsome €6 million per year including performance-related bonuses.
If an agreement is struck, getting in a defender of Christensen’s quality, with his peak years still ahead of him, on a free transfer, will be a brilliant piece of business by the club.
