Barcelona have reportedly closed out a personal agreement with Jules Kounde. The Sevilla starlet is prepared to reject the Chelsea proposal, in favour of a move to Camp Nou and become a part of Xavi’s defensive unit.

It is now up to Barcelona to negotiate with Sevilla about the transfer fee. Los Nervionenes currently rate their defensive prospect at around €65 million, which is about what Chelsea were offering.

But with the Blues on the verge of exiting from the chase, Sevilla have no option but to negotiate with Barça, as they, too, are in desperate need of a financial injection in their bid to continue their squad planning ahead of the new season.

According to Catalunya Radio, the Catalans have already issued their first offer to Sevilla for Kounde. They had tabled a proposal of around €40 million, with an additional €5 million to be paid through performance-related variables.

However, Sevilla sporting director Monchi has been swift to reject the proposal. Although the club are desperately looking to sanction the exit of Kounde as soon as possible, they have no intention to offload their defensive prospect on a cut-price deal.

A package of €45 million is well below their expectations and Barça must come up with a better offer if they are to have any hopes of closing out a deal for Kounde.

There is a possibility the Catalans could entertain the idea of including Memphis Depay in the deal, in an attempt to lower the cost of the operation. However, such a deal would require a lot of co-operation on Sevilla’s part.

To Barcelona’s fortune, the Andalusians do not have too many options and may have to entertain economic sacrifices or player plus cash deals, if they are to sanction the sale of Kounde and speed up their squad planning ahead of the new season.
