Barcelona working on reinforcing four positions in the summer

Barcelona are expecting a major overhaul in the summer and for that, they remain pretty much confident that Leeds United winger Raphinha will arrive along with a centre-back, a midfielder and most possibly, Robert Lewandowski.

Raphinha, 25, has been a subject of heavy interest from Barcelona, but the transfer more or less depends on whether or not Leeds United can survive relegation in the Premier League.

If reports are to be believed, the winger currently has a €45 million worth of release clause in his contract, but the amount will descend to just €25 million if his team fails to win the relegation battle.

Now, Barça were initially hoping to land Raphinha once they get more clarity on Ousmane Dembele’s future, but as things stand, they are hoping to get this deal done regardless of the situation.

What’s going on with Kalidou Koulibaly?

Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly is the latest name to be linked with Barcelona.

The towering centre-half, who Xavi believes can solve several defensive issues, is said to be Barcelona’s priority for this position, but striking a deal with Napoli will be an entirely different ball game altogether.

It is said that since his current deal expires in 2023, his market value has tumbled to €35 million. Even an amount of this magnitude remains a far-fetched option for the team that is still struggling to align the finances.

Update on Robert Lewandowski

After weeks of negotiations with his agent Pini Zahavi, Barcelona have officially opened talks with Bayern Munich for star forward Robert Lewandowski.

Like Koulibaly, Lewandowski has a valid contract until 2023, meaning that Bayern are playing hardball to let their striker leave.

A fresh update from journalist Fabrizio Romano, however, has confirmed that Barcelona have put forward their first official bid, but Bayern want more than what they have offered.

On top of that, they are still searching for replacements, without which the deal will fall through altogether.

As for the player, his plan is pretty much clear. He has said yes to Barcelona and it’s all about finding a solution now.
