Barcelona winger Ez Abde has been in the news a lot over the past couple of days as rumours about a potential exit late in the transfer window continue to mount.

The 21-year-old winger returned from an impressive loan spell at CA Osasuna and looked set for a part in Xavi’s plans, especially after Ousmane Dembele’s departure.

However, Abde has not started any of Barça’s three La Liga games thus far and did not even feature against Villarreal – something that left him disappointed and opened the door for him to consider a departure.

Abde wants to know his role in Xavi’s plans

Now, Gabriel Sans of Mundo Deportivo is reporting that while Abde’s future is certainly in doubt, the 21-year-old is not extensively pushing for an exit at this point.

Instead, the winger only wishes to know whether he will have an important part in Xavi’s plans as he wants to play regularly and not be relegated to the bench.

Another meeting is set to take place between Abde’s agent and sporting director Deco soon to discuss the positions of the player and the club.

The Moroccan international wants guarantees that he will be relied upon regularly by the manager and that he will not have to suffice with being a benchwarmer.

The report goes on to add that Barcelona manager Xavi counts on Abde but that does not mean that the team can guarantee him minutes on the pitch.

In that scenario, Abde would prefer to leave the club for a team where he can play regularly.

Barcelona will not consider loan offers

Barcelona, however, are unwilling to sanction a loan exit for Abde as such a move would not generate much Fair Play margin.

The Blaugrana would only consider a permanent exit in case the winger decides to leave and are seeking a fee of €20 million.

However, at this point, none of the suitors appear ready to meet that valuation, leaving Abde in a bit of an iffy situation.

The youngster only wants to play regularly and would be happy to stay at Barcelona if he receives a guarantee from the club. If not, it remains to be seen where he ends up.
