Just days after it was reported that Ez Abde will not be leaving FC Barcelona this summer, it appears that the 21-year-old winger’s folder is opened yet again.
Only last week we reported that the Moroccan international would be staying put at the club following a meeting between the Blaugrana officials and his agent.
Xavi planned to count on him and wanted to keep him around and an exit was ruled out, as a result.
Abde hurt after Villarreal snub
But, according to a report from journalist Alex Pintanel, Abde’s future is open again as the winger was disappointed after not playing against Villarreal last night.
The 21-year-old winger is understood to be hurt that he did not play a single minute even though he was only recently told by the club that he would be an important part of Xavi’s plans.
In fact, Abde was understood to be aiming for a starting berth against Villarreal but did not even get a single minute, with Xavi opting for Ferran Torres and Ansu Fati to reinforce his attack during the game.
As such, the possibility of a departure is now back on the table and fresh meetings will take place to determine what the future holds for the Moroccan international.
Barcelona will demand €30 million for Abde
In case the player decides that he would want a move away, Barcelona will likely demand a transfer fee of €30 million for him.
Abde is attracting interest from clubs in Spain, England, and Germany, and as such an exit cannot be ruled out.
However, Alex Pintanel’s report claims that a permanent transfer this late in the window could be complicated and as such a loan departure may be on the cards.
At this point, though, nobody within the club offices is ensuring that Abde will be at Barcelona beyond the summer transfer window. The decision will be up to the player and it remains to be seen what he chooses.
