Barcelona are already chalking out plans for the next transfer windows, with new sporting director Deco working out strategies for recruitment and identifying targets to reinforce the squad.

There will be a greater focus on roping in young talent with great potential going forward and several players have already been identified as potential targets.

One of the names that appears to be prominently featured in Barcelona’s plans for the future is Corinthians midfield prodigy Gabriel Moscardo.

Barcelona to step up pursuit of Gabriel Moscardo

Moscardo, who turned 18 last month, is regarded as one of the most talented young defensive midfielders coming through the scenes in Brazil.

And, now, Joaquim Piera of SPORT is reporting that Barcelona are ready to go with their everything in their pursuit of the teenage midfield prodigy.

Deco has already set his sights on the teenager for some time now and even made an attempt to close a deal for him back in the summer, during May/June, when he was yet to be officially appointed as Barça’s sporting director.

And, having taken over in an official capacity now, the former Portuguese midfielder is stepping up the pursuit of Moscardo.

Deco intends to close the signing of the 18-year-old at the earliest possible before his asking price rises beyond Barcelona’s reach, especially given their financial situation.

To that end, the Blaugrana’s sporting director has already called Corinthians to explore the possibility of a move.

However, signing Moscardo will not be straightforward for Barcelona as Chelsea, too, have held a serious interest in the 18-year-old midfield prodigy.

The Blues have been actively recruiting young talents from Brazil of late, having signed the likes of Andrey Santos, Deivid Washington, and more recently Angelo Gabriel.

And they now have Moscardo on their radars, although their attempts to sign him have not proven fruitful yet.

It is now up to Barcelona to secure a deal in place for Corinthians for the teenage midfield prospect who could be a long-term option in the pivot midfield position.
