Barcelona want to win the league title against Espanyol: “Would love it”

Barcelona’s recent 4-0 win against Real Betis last night moved them one step closer to securing the league title.
With just six matches to go, a total of eight points would be enough for Barcelona to seal the title, especially with Real Madrid a distant second.
However, as reported by Diario AS, the Catalans are looking to confirm the title as soon as possible, particularly against local rivals Espanyol. A veteran member of the locker said, “We’d love to win the league at Espanyol’s stadium.”
It appears Barcelona are harbouring the hope of winning the title in the stadium of Espanyol, just to earn that bit of extra bragging rights.
The Barça and Espanyol game at Camp Nou caused a bit of controversy last time, with the home side restricting tickets and entry to the opposition fans, among other conflicts.
With the two teams sharing an increasing animosity, securing the league title at RCDE Stadium could be a satisfying outlet for the Catalans. However, achieving the feat will not be easy.
Barcelona play Espanyol on May 14. In between, they only have one game in hand, against CA Osasuna. That means in order to win the title against Espanyol, the Blaugrana must beat Osasuna on May 2.
The victory against the Pamplona outlet will not be enough. Barcelona also need Real Madrid to lose against Real Sociedad in their next game. The combination of the two results could see Barcelona extend their lead to 14 points by the end of the next matchday.
After that, securing a win against Espanyol could be enough for Barcelona to celebrate the league title at the RCDE stadium.
Although certainly not impossible, it would require a bit of luck, as far as the league leaders are concerned. Hence it will be interesting to see how the results transpire in the coming weeks.
