Barcelona are set to step up their pursuit of Palmeiras wonderkid Endrick as they plan to start negotiations with the Brazilian outfit for the signing of the teenage sensation, reports SPORT.

One of the most sought-after young prospects in the world of football, Endrick has been grabbing the limelight with his performances for Palmeiras’ and Brazil’s youth teams.

The 15-year-old forward stole the show in the Copinha tournament, one of the most prestigious youth football competitions, as he netted six goals in seven games, helping Palmeiras triumph.

Following that, the teenage prodigy starred for the Brazil Under-17 side in the Montaigu Tournament, leading his team to silverware in the competition, as he scored five goals in four games, including one in the finals against Argentina.

Endrick has attracted interest from a host of top clubs across Europe, including Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG, and Manchester United among others. The 15-year-old has previously expressed his admiration for Barça, while also claiming that he idolises Blaugrana legend Rivaldo.

Endrick also visited Camp Nou and watched the Catalan giants take on Napoli in the UEFA Europa League earlier this year. With interest in him rising now, Barcelona are ready to step up their efforts to secure the teenager’s signing.

As per the report, Barcelona plan to open talks with Palmeiras and reach an agreement for the signing of Endrick once he turns 16 in July and signs a professional contract with the Brazilian outfit.

Endrick would then stay at Palmeiras until he turns 18, at which point he can join Barcelona in the summer of 2024. To that end, the Catalan giants are planning to make an offer of a fixed sum plus a variable component based on Endrick’s progression.

It remains to be seen whether such a move sees the light of the day, but as things stand, Barça are preparing to start negotiating with Palmeiras for the wonderkid.
