The summer transfer window has come to an end, with Barcelona ending up reducing their wage bill by a whopping €161 million.

But that has not stopped the club from continuing their search in the market for new talents, as they look to beef up the squad with young players.

Barcelona interested in Alvaro Montoro

According to Jijantes, Barcelona are keeping tabs on Alvaro Montoro, an Argentine youngster plying his trade for Velez Sarsfield.

A midfielder by trade, Montoro is not yet a member of the Velez Sarsfield senior side, but he has shown a lot of promise during his time in the youth departments.

At 16, Montoro has already caught the attention of many European clubs, with Barcelona notably sending scouts to keep track of his performances about two years ago.

An Argentine with an Italian passport, Montoro does not have much professional experience under his belt. But there is a real possibility he may continue his development in Europe, in the upcoming January transfer window.

Montoro wants to join Barça

Thanks to his immense potential, Montoro has no shortage of suitors. The likes of Villarreal, Sevilla, and Fiorentina are all keeping a tracking of the player.

However, as per Jijantes, the youngster has set his sights on a move to FC Barcelona in the upcoming January transfer window.

The player’s environment has already communicated with the club officials, as he hopes to move to Europe by the turn of the year, with Barcelona a firm priority.

Barça have roped in talented players from across the globe in recent years, and there is a very good chance Alvaro Montoro could join that pool of young talents in the coming year.
