Barcelona rivalled by Inter Milan in race to sign Chelsea star – report

In recent days, Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has emerged back on the radars of FC Barcelona heading into the summer transfer window.
The 33-year-old had a short but impressive six-month stint at Barça last year but was sold to Chelsea due to the club’s financial issues. With things having not gone to plans for him in England, the veteran forward is set to be on his way out.
And Barcelona have presented themselves as an option for Aubameyang, with the striker himself said to be keen on a move back to Catalonia.
However, as per reports in Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t SPORT), Inter Milan are rivalling Barcelona in the race to sign Aubameyang from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
The Nerazzurri are unlikely to sign Romelu Lukaku on a permanent transfer after a middling loan spell, more so due to the financial demands of Chelsea, with the Belgian international set to return to London.
And Inter Milan hope to replace him with Aubameyang if such a scenario develops over the coming months.
As far as Chelsea are concerned, recent reports suggested that they could be considering terminating his contract having been upset by the striker celebrating Barça’s El Clasico win over Real Madrid in the Camp Nou dressing room last week.
So, there is a likelihood that Aubameyang could become available for free in the summer, which certainly appeals to Barcelona. But with Inter Milan now entering the picture, it will be interesting to see how things go in the coming weeks.
