Having lured Pedri from Las Palmas a few years ago, Barcelona have set their sights on another young talent from the Canary Islands’ club Alberto Moleiro.

Termed as the ‘new Pedri’, the young midfielder is attracting major interest from clubs in Spain and outside. And, according to the latest report from AS, Premier League club Aston Villa have joined Barcelona and Real Madrid in pursuit of Moleiro.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder was on Barcelona’s radar for the last summer as well and the club held talks with Las Palmas over a transfer. However, the La Liga 2 outfit’s demands and the Catalans’ financial situation meant that the move did not go through.

Instead, Moleiro signed a new contract with Las Palmas, extending his stay at the club until the summer of 2026.

As part of the new deal, Moleiro has a release clause amount worth €30 million, which will double to €60 million should Las Palmas earn promotion to La Liga. And, it seems like a solid possibility as they are currently leading the table in the second division.

Barcelona and Real Madrid had warred last year around this time for the signing of Pablo Torre. And the Catalans had emerged on top in that battle.

And while another El Clasico battle seemed likely for the signing of Moleiro in the coming weeks, Aston Villa have now entered the race for the 19-year-old midfielder.

The report states that Unai Emery’s side want to close the deal for the youngster at the earliest possible so that they do not have to pay over the odds for his services in the summer.

What will now be interesting to see is whether this spurs either Barcelona or Real Madrid into action and compels them to make a move for Moleiro’s signing.
