It has been signings-galore for the attacking department at Barcelona this winter. Ferran Torres and Adama Traore come in as valuable resources for Xavi, who has had to suffer from a lack of options so far in his tenure.

The prioritization of the forward-line does not come as a surprise. Ansu Fati’s constant injuries and Luuk de Jong’s unstable form are worrying variables for the club.

Moreover, Martin Braithwaite is yet to start a game under Xavi, while Memphis Depay’s fitness has become a concern.

Considering the options in hand, the club still considers the signing of a striker essential.

According to reports from Gerard Romero, Barcelona have an agreement with Pierre- Emerick Aubameyang on a six-month loan deal. There is a catch, though, as the Gabonese striker can only arrive if Ousmane Dembele leaves.

A lot of operations hinge on the Frenchman’s future at the club, explaining the board’s frustration at the player. Dembele’s renewal or departure will provide Barcelona with the margin they require to register new signings. His reluctance to reach a decision has adversely affected the team’s transfer window.

Alvaro Morata was the Blaugranas‘ plan A to reinforce the striker position; a plan that was crashed by Atletico Madrid. They are unwilling to let their player move on another loan, especially without a mandatory purchase clause.

Times have not been easy for Aubameyang at Arsenal; the striker has been pushed out of the team after being stripped of captaincy due to disciplinary reasons.

The 32-tear-old has scored four league goals for the Gunners this season in 12 starts. Given his imperious history in front of goal, there are few doubts that he can be the missing piece in Xavi’s puzzle. Will he overcome his indiscipline, though?
