According to SPORT, Barcelona want to complete the signings of top targets like Lionel Messi, Ilkay Gundogan, and Inigo Martinez before they fly off for their pre-season tour to the United States of America.
However, for Barça to be able to press ahead with their transfer plans, they will need to make at least one important sale before June 30.
At this point, it is well-established that Barcelona are hamstrung by their Financial Fair Play issues and need to reduce their workforce budget by a large amount and balance the books to be able to sign and register new players/contracts in the summer.
The Blaugrana have already sent their economic viability plan to La Liga for approval, but there have been suggestions that the club feel that the league’s expectations could be too tough to match.
In order to make it work, Barcelona are looking to offload some players, with stars like Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres, and Franck Kessie among those being heavily linked with exits.
In fact, Fati’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is meeting with club officials today to discuss the future of the 20-year-old forward.
Barcelona will fly to the United States for their pre-season on July 19, where they will be playing a friendly against Real Madrid, along with several other matches. And they wish to close the Bosman signings of Messi, Gundogan, and Martinez in time for that trip.
But until the green light arrives from La Liga, Barça remain in the dark about their salary limits and cannot make concrete offers to their targets.
Other than closing the signings of the aforementioned players, Barcelona will also look to register the new contracts of players like Gavi, Ronald Araujo, Marcos Alonso, and Sergi Roberto as well.
For all that to be able to happen, though, exits will be key and an important sale will need to be made before June 30.
