It is a pleasant day for the offices at Spotify Camp Nou. The club only received La Liga’s official green light for the economic viability plan earlier today, and there already appears to be more reason to celebrate.
According to the reliable Fabrizio Romano, Gavi has been officially registered as a first-team player and will wear the number 6 kit next season. His release clause is set at €1 billion, expiring in June 2026.

The Golden Boy was initially incorporated into the senior setup in the last winter transfer window and even donned the single-digit jersey for a short period.
However, La Liga cut short the youngster’s tenure as a first-team player by officially filing a case against the Catalans citing a delayed submission of papers.
The Barcelona court has now ruled in favour of the Blaugranas and stated that the registration had been made before the deadline.
Despite being registered with the subsidiary team, the 18-year-old has been a solid pillar in Xavi Hernandez’s setup. His fine performances at the club level have made him a mainstay for the Spanish National Team, whom he even represented in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The prodigy appeared in 36 of Barcelona’s 38 La Liga games in the recently concluded season, scoring two goals and providing four assists in the process. He averaged 1.1 key passes per game and created six big chances.
Xavi Hernandez preferred to use the teenager as a false winger for most of the 2022-23 campaign and deployed him on the left side of the attack.
Gavi made the position his own and was one of the critical components in the team’s successful four-man midfield model. The plan could remain the same next season.
With the midfielder’s contract situation now sorted, Barcelona will turn their focus to the registration of Ronald Araujo. Needless to say, submitting an official offer for Lionel Messi is also on the priority list.
