Amid links with the likes of Erling Haaland, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, it seems like Barcelona have set their sights on another client of super-agent Mino Raiola for the summer of 2022.

Indeed, according to Fichajes, Barcelona have rekindled their interest in Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma amidst claims of the custodian being frustrated at Paris Saint-Germain.

The 22-year-old was a subject of transfer interest from the Catalans during the summer earlier this year when his contract with AC Milan had run out. However, he opted to sign for PSG but things have not gone to plan for the shot-stopper as he has had to share game-time with Keylor Navas.

Donnarumma has started just eight of PSG’s 19 Ligue 1 fixtures this season while featuring in exact half of their six UEFA Champions League group stage encounters. It has led to speculations that the ex-AC Milan prodigy is unhappy with the situation and could consider a move away if things do not improve.

And, Barça have taken note of the development and are considering opening talks with Raiola about a move for the 22-year-old. While they have Marc-Andre ter Stegen as the first-choice custodian, the German’s performances have been on the decline of late, leading to criticism from several quarters.

There have been reports that Barça could even offload him at the end of the season and bring in a new goalkeeper. Getting his wages off the books would certainly be a positive development, but bringing in Donnarumma is unlikely to be cheap either, given that he is contracted with PSG until 2026 and will command a high salary.

So, it remains to be seen if the Blaugrana do decide to pursue the 22-year-old Italian next year or stick with ter Stegen or go after a different alternative completely.
