Manchester City midfield mainstay Bernardo Silva has been on the radars of Barcelona for well over a year now. The Blaugrana wished to sign him last summer but did not have the financial wherewithal to pull off a deal.

Joan Laporta & co. are once again eyeing the 27-year-old midfielder in the current transfer window, with the Barça president determined to land Silva as he looks to provide manager Xavi Hernandez with the best possible squad to mount a title challenge.

However, the Catalans will face several roadblocks in their pursuit of the former AS Monaco midfielder. For starters, Manchester City are reluctant to let go of their star playmaker this summer.

Even if they were to sanction a deal, the Premier League champions would demand a sum of €100 million for Silva. On top of that, French champions Paris Saint-Germain have also entered the race to sign the 27-year-old, creating another hurdle for Barcelona.

But, according to a report from COPE, Barça are not worried about the interest from PSG as they already have everything agreed with Silva’s agent, Jorge Mendes, over a potential move for the Manchester City ace.

And should they be successful in offloading Frenkie de Jong, the Blaugrana will go at full speed to secure the signing of the Portuguese international.

Laporta and Mendes have a good working relationship and the pair have had multiple meetings in recent months, during which the possibility of Silva’s move to Camp Nou has also been discussed.

It has been reported that Silva himself is keen on securing a ‘dream move’ to Barcelona. So, PSG’s interest is unlikely to be a major issue for the Blaugrana. However, the club must first find a way to move De Jong off the books before they can think of launching a move for the Man City superstar.
