While it was believed that Memphis Depay could be on the verge of leaving Barcelona for Juventus, a fresh update from Gianluca Di Marzio claims that the move could now hit a roadblock.

Depay has been told to find a new club by the Blaugrana as he is no longer guaranteed a spot in the plans of manager Xavi Hernandez. After a lot of rumours and speculations, it finally seemed that the Dutchman could be on his way to Juventus.

The Bianconeri have been long-term admirers of the Netherlands international and wanted to sign him this summer following the departures of Alvaro Morata and Paulo Dybala.

Talks over a contract have been taking place for a while now and an agreement seemed imminent. At the same time, Barcelona and Depay also agreed terms over the termination of his contract, which would allow him to join the Turin giants on a free transfer.

However, there has been a fresh twist in the tale as, according to Di Marzio, Depay has decided to increase his wage demands at the last moment.

In light of these increased demands made by the 28-year-old forward, Juventus are now reconsidering signing him and could explore cheaper alternatives such as Marseille’s Arkadiusz Milik.

Signing the Pole would reportedly make it easier for Juve to make a move for PSG midfielder Leandro Paredes as well, which is why there is a real possibility that the Old Lady might walk away from the Depay deal due to his inflated demands.

If true, it will come as a big blow to Barcelona, who are relying on the impending exits of Depay and fellow forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to register Jules Kounde.
