Despite bringing in a host of players in the summer transfer window, Barcelona are not expected to back down just yet, as the club continue to search the market for reinforcements.

A right-back and a central midfield are thought to be Barcelona’s priorities in the market. But according to Diario SPORT, the Catalans have also entered the race to sign Borussia Dortmund attacker Youssoufa Moukoko.

Aged just 17, Moukoko has been one of the rising stars in German football this year. He has become a key attacking asset for Dortmund this season, especially in the absence of Sebastien Haller. He has racked up six goals and six assists in all competitions.

In light of his performances, Moukoko was handed a surprise call-up to the German team for the FIFA World Cup. In addition, it appears the youngster has become one of the most-wanted prospects in Europe, with Real Madrid and other clubs keen on his services.

Barcelona have joined the race as well, as they hope to sign Moukoko on a free transfer at the end of the season. The player’s contract at Dortmund expires in 2023, meaning he will be eligible to hold discussions over a pre-contract agreement this coming January.

The report suggests Moukoko is keen to don the Barcelona colours next season, which barely comes as a surprise for any player of his age.

However, luring Moukoko away from Dortmund could be a challenging task for Barcelona as Dortmund are determined to keep hold of the player. The Black and Yellows are already tipped to lose Jude Bellingham in 2023 and will try their best to avoid the exit of another super talent in Moukoko.

But with Barcelona and Real Madrid breathing down their necks, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the young attacker next summer.
